20 years ago, i received the really horrible news that i had breast cancer. After all was said and done, it ended up being stage 3, i had a partial right mastectomy, 4 or 14 lymph nodes positive for ccancer, plus 2 other tumors. I did 8 chemo treatments, and 33 radiation treatments. Through it all, i didn't miss work, i chose to fight it with wicked sense of humor. we all mocked the cancer, made jokes about it and basically never let it take over. I'm sure people thought we were all a bit warped, but i didn't care. i truly believe that is the attitude that helped me get through cancer relatively unscathed.
sure, i have had plenty of scares of recurrence since treatment, but so far so good. i won't lie, the first few years i was sure i was going to go to a doctor appt and would be told, sorry, your cancer is back. but nope, not me. not yet anyway. (haha)
So, here's to the next 20 bitches.
