Sunrise, Sunset.........i'm old

Ahhh, its been less than 24 hours, and the Prom is now a distant memory. Jenny's boyfriend, Cody, came up from Holtville for the event. He had a tux, that included a pink tie and a pink vest to match Jenny's dress. he's 17, and looked mighty handsome all dressed up.

Jenny's school had a party bus for the prom, but the price was ridiculous, so I offered to drive Jenny and Cody up in my car. Since Jennifer's school is a charter school, there are many Academies that make up Julian Charter School. They are based throughout San Diego county. So, to make it fair for everyone, the Prom was held at a central location, which happened to be in Del Mar at the Hilton Hotel. About an hour or so drive for me. Personally, i felt better being onsite. Its that mama bear thing in me. You parents get me. Anyhoooo, 2 of Jenny's BFF's (you know, Best Friends Forever aka Teen speak) got wind that i was driving, and asked to be driven too. Plus their parents liked the idea of me actually being there. so it was a win-win situation.

The kids started getting ready at noon. Nevermind that we were leaving at 5pm, but you must remember how it was when you were a kid. They went from one house to another getting ready. Got dressed at Virginia's, painted nails at Linda's, did hair at our house. We live in a very small town, of about 1500, so everyone in town was pretty much doing the same thing.

We left on time, and arrived at the Hilton around 6:30 pm. Pictures were taken, and then the next thing i knew, i was all alone. So, rather than sit in my car for the next 4 or 5 hours, i packed up my Zune player, People Magazine, Crossword Puzzle, and bottle of water, and planted my tshirt wearing butt in the lobby. Nope, i did not fit in, and Nope, i did not care! The time went by fast. They sure got a strange bunch of characters in there. I did make a couple of observations, like: Rich people are lazy, and wont carry their bags anywhere, AND the more people drink, the louder they become. Its funny actually!

Jenny and Cody were voted The Cutest Couple at the prom, and they won a couple of Starbucks gift cards.
The prom ended at 10:30 and it was a quiet drive home because all 4 kids were exhausted. Made for a long day, but it was fun for everyone, including me. My baby is growing up.
