Go rest high on that mountain

This blog is dedicated to one of the great loves of my life... my brother Brian.

I lost my brother to cancer in June.  Only now i find that i can write and or talk about it.  I thought after losing my parents that i would be able to handle any death thrown my way. I was wrong.  Since 1958 when Brian was born, it was me, Brian my mom and dad. Now, its just me.  I feel bad for feeling so selfish, but it is just so final.  I'm sure you understand

My brother was my greatest enemy growing up (as most brothers are!) and my best friend as an adult.  He had his times of torment and lost his way many times throughout his life. He was the nicest person  you would ever meet, and would do anything for anyone.  He was never able to say no.  Sometimes that was his downfall.

While i was a daddy's girl, Brian was a mommy's boy. And not in the way you might think.  He was her protector, and she was his rock.  She knew that I could take care of myself (and had daddy), so she did whatever she could to help Brian make his way through life.  Just as I was devastated over my fathers death, Brian was destroyed when our mother died.  His caring nature was exactly that of our mother.

Brian was a wonderful dad, brother, son, uncle, grandparent and friend.  I will miss him with all that i have, but he is definitely in a much better place.  He may have been swept up by the bad in the world, so i can definitely can tell you that he's up there in Heaven with mom and dad.  He's serving her tea and sharing a laugh with Dad.  My heart breaks because i will never see him again, but i'm happy knowing that he's no longer troubled and is home.

this video/song is Vince Gill, Patty Loveless and Ricky Skaggs singing 'Go Rest High on that Mountain.  It perfectly sums  up my brothers life.

These are a couple of pictures of my brother.

I'm so sorry Deb, I can't imagine losing my siblings even though we are not close. I pray he is at rest now and that you will find the comfort and peace knowing he is with your folks. Someday you will join them and your family will be as one again. take care...;j
